Petro Zillia

October 30, 2008 by sandy305

Petro Zillia designer Nony Tochterman is definitely one of a kind. The line, which was conceived in 1996, takes a playful avant-garde look at high fashion, using luxurious fabrics and unique ideas.

Tochterman uses bold colors, vivid details and takes a modern twist on retro trends. The designer learned to knit, sew and cut fabric by the time she was seven. She grew up watching her mother, who is also a fashion designer, run a trendy boutique in her native home of Tel Aviv, Israel.

As a child she would frequent her mother’s factory and by 17 she had sold her first hand-loomed sweater in her mother’s boutique under a made-up label name.

Her first fashion show premiered in L.A. at the Mercedes Benz at Smashbox Studios Fashion Week and drew fashion editors as well as the Hollywood crowd immediately. What was once a simple vision of a fun accessory collection consisting of hats, scarves, handbags, has turned into a largely successful ready-to-wear collection, that is donned by the likes of Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, and Madonna.

Her designs also regularly appear in the pages of Vogue, W, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle and Zink magazines. She currently lives and creates in Los Angeles with her business partner and husband Yosi Drori and her two beautiful children.
