Suss Cousins (pronounced Soos) is the woman responsible for kicking starting the knitting phenomenon in Los Angeles a couple of years back, and in 2005, Suss brought the craze to New York City’s up-and-coming neighborhood Nolita.
Suss grew up in Sweden where she learned to knit from her grandmother. She has two stores – the flagship in L.A. and her most recent venture, NYC – where she stocks the best yarn and needles on the market as well as handmade clothing and accessories for men, women and children.
Suss’s designs have a decidedly Scandinavian influence relying heavily on vibrant colors and bold geometric shapes. She has also proven without a doubt that knitting is no longer a marmish hobby with Hollywood A-listers like Jada Pinkett Smith, Kelly Preston, Elisabeth Shue, Angela Bassett, Cindy Crawford, Julianne Moore and Angela Bassett all being avid customers.
Suss has turned a family tradition into big Hollywood bucks creating hand-knit creations for many movies and TV shows like Friends, Ally McBeal, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Men in Black, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and The Cat in the Hat. Suss Designs also took to the runway for the Fall 2005 season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in L.A.
