Jeremy Scott

October 23, 2008 by sandy305

Jeremy Scott is best known for his outrageous and often very humorous designs. The fact that he grew up in Kansas may in part explain the Oz-like nature of his runway shows. He has been known to draw inspiration from S&M leather culture, mermaids, sea monsters, and even Gilette Venus razors.

In the past his wild designs have incorporated trash bags, dollar bills, one-legged pants, chain mail bikinis and McDonald’s French fry boxes. After living and showing in Paris for several years, Scott returned to the U.S. in 2002 to inject a shot of glittered good humor to the Los Angeles fashion scene.

He now shows at the tents at Bryant Park at New York Fashion Week along designers like Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin and Marc Jacobs. Scott was named number 31 in the Face’s “Most Important People in Fashion” issue, ranking higher than Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney.

There’s no question that his fashions are theatrical and are designed for the woman who loves to dress up. Famous faces that love to show off his designs are Bjork, Cameron Diaz, Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue and Madonna. Scott is also the stylist for the band Fischer Spooner.
