Jacob Arabo’s jewelry can almost solely be credited with bringing the term “bling” to fruition. Back in the mid-90s, up-and-coming R&B singer Faith Evans came upon Jacob’s New York City shop in the Diamond District while seeking jewels for her upcoming album. Completely taken by Arabo’s unique creations she returned with her husband, the late Notorious B.I.G. and they instantly became loyal costumers recommending Arabo’s handiwork to a host of their high profile friends.
This set off a buzz throughout the music industry which continues to resonate today. In an instant, “Jacob the Jeweler” became the go-to guy for jewels throughout the music, entertainment, fashion and sports worlds, with the biggest names in the business becoming faithful clients. Arabo’s passion for jewelry began as a young boy growing up in Russia.
After immigrating to the United States at age 16, he enrolled in a jewelry design course to develop his natural talents, but it wasn’t long before he was out on his own designing his unique pieces for a number of jewelry labels and private clients.
The JACOB & Co. flagship store, situated on NYC’s prestigious 57th Street has given Arabo a stronghold in the fashion industry. The store’s concept is modeled after Strata – the natural rock formations in which precious gems are found. Clients can explore and browse as if on a mining expedition to find a rare and valuable gem.
