Sari Gueron

October 22, 2008 by sandy305

Sari Gueron is an Israeli-born, Rhode Island School of Design-educated fashion designer who made her debut in the Fall season of 2004. At her first solo showing at the St. Regis hotel she unveiled a collection consisting of a mere 13 femininely draped but streamlined dresses for Spring.

Apprenticeships at John Galliano and Oscar De La Renta and a win at the GenArt styles competition have prepared this 29-year-old designer with the skills and confidence to create designs that exude a unique combination of laid-back elegance and romance steeped in modernity.

Her dresses have a mystical, ethereal quality that give a distinctive nod to the 1920s and 1930s with her dropped and empire waists, but she brings it back to the present by mixing in sexy kimonos and drapey cocktail numbers.

In more recent seasons Gueron has translated her timeless sensibility into everyday wear, adding separates to her ever-evolving line. Although Gueron’s is a fairly new name in thefashion industry, she is quickly being recognized as one of the prominent designers of the feminine Bohemian aesthetic with the possibilities to reach the same legendary status as her mentors Galliano and de la Renta. She has gained a loyal following from some of Hollywood’s most famous faces such as Natalie Portman, Magggie Gyllenhaal and Scarlett Johansson.
